D. W. Brooks was a major figure in American agriculture. He was the founder and leader of Gold Kist, a farm cooperative, for almost fifty years and also served as an agricultural advisor to several U.S. Presidents. This collection consists primarily of oral history interviews with D.W. Brooks conducted by Brian S. Wills. D.W. Brooks discusses his family background, his childhood in Royston, Ga., his education, and his involvement with the Methodist church. He speaks extensively about topics related to farming and agriculture in Georgia, including the founding and development of Gold Kist, the poultry industry, fish and cattle production, cotton farming, and the federal government's involvement with farming co-ops. Brooks also discusses his contribution as an agricultural advisor to United States presidents and world leaders. Complimentary interviews in this collection with individuals such as former President Jimmy Carter and Secretary of State Dean Rusk provide additional perspectives on Brooks and his contributions.

The collection consists of materials relating to Dean Rusk, collected by Rusk's brother, Parks Rusk, from 1935 to 1985. The correspondence includes letters written by Rusk to his family while attending Oxford University (1931-1934), while teaching at Mills College (1934-1940), and while in India and Europe during World War II. The collection consists of 172 oral history interviews with Dean Rusk and his colleagues between 1984-1989. Includes audiotapes and transcriptions documenting Rusk's life from early childhood in the 1910's through his teaching career in the 1980's. The interviews contain information on Rusk's service as U.S. Under Secretary and Secretary of State during the administrations of Presidents Truman, Kennedy, and Johnson and his involvement in foreign relations including the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War. The interviews also document his position as president of the Rockefeller Foundation in the 1950s.

Lieutenant Colonel Henry Tift Myers, Sr., a native of Tifton, Georgia, was the first Presidential pilot, and transported Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman around the world in specially-designed airplanes that were the predecessors of the modern Air Force One. Myers also piloted several members of Congress, high ranking military officers, visiting royalty, and other VIPs and guests of the United States government. Among his notable passengers were Madame Chiang, wife of Chiang Kai-shek, Mexican President Miguel Alemán, the King and Queen of Greece, and Winston Churchill. He captained the 1943 global war front flight that carried Senator Richard B. Russell and the Special Senate Subcommittee to inspect military installations. Myers was also the holder of a number of air speed and flight distance records. The Henry Tift Myers, Sr. Papers document both his personal and professional life from 1931 to 1968 (bulk 1943-1947), with an emphasis on his service as the first Presidential pilot during World War II. The collection consists of correspondence, flight logs, printed material, ephemera, clippings, notes, photographs, drawings, and maps.
